Though I realize my very short and specific answer to the actual question raised by the OP might not have conveyed all that. I'm not sure what other game I'd be comparing it to, and as I've got reams of posts talking about the direction of the story and how Geralt was never that type of playboy as depicted in the first game, and how constant random sex simply takes away from the relationship issues that are starting to play out, so I'm hardly the person you need to argue with about this issue. Others are one night stands that he never sees again. Some of them have been decades long affairs that he can't help but flirt with. However, a serious highlight (or detour) of his travels are the women he romances. In each game, she has a serious contender for Geralt’s heart in the form of Shani, Ves, and Yennefer. Also there was that peasants dream in which he had sex with Saskia and she said to bring his mates. I mean, as far as make-believe cartoon game sex with imaginary wenches and succubi goes. The Witcher really is all about the adventures of Geralt of Rivia and the monsters he hunts. In The Witcher, Triss was the subject of some of the infamous Romance cards that the player could collect, while she is already in a relationship with Geralt at the start The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings. Saskia being called the virgin is as much a legend as her being called a dragonslayer. I prefer quality over quantity anyway, and a couple of the episodes in this game are worth any amount of card collecting form the first game. Granted, its not as much as the first game, but the first game was largely ridiculed for this particular aspect. One of the major choices youll make in The Witcher 3 is who to romance. I dont think Geralt is quite at the point of celibacy. Granted the animations vary only in minor ways, but seeing as in TW1 the animations didn't vary at all, this is a step up. Triss and Ves are the only romanceable characters in the sense that there is an actual depth and consequence to the relationship. Theres been at least 10 different opportunities in my Iorweth playthrough, and there are different opportunities in the Roche path. Maybe not compared to the first Witcher, but compared to any other game, there's plenty of action. There are 5 confirmed romance options in the The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, though the term romance is used loosely since most of the encounters are meaningless sex.
